FBI Director James Comey revealed Wednesday that his agency is investigating suspected supporters of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in every state across the U.S.
“We have investigations of people in various stages of radicalizing in all 50 states,” Comey told a winter meeting of the National Association of Attorneys General.
“This isn’t a New York phenomenon or a Washington phenomenon. This is all 50 states and in ways that are very hard to see,” he added.
His remarks, captured in video, came as the Justice Department revealed Wednesday that the FBI had arrested three men in New York City on charges of attempting to provide support to ISIS.
“ISIL in particular is putting out a siren song with their slick propaganda through social media,” Comey said Wednesday, using an alternate acronym for the terror group.
“Troubled soul, come to the caliphate, you will live a life of glory, these are the apocalyptic end times, you will find a life of meaning here, fighting for our so-called caliphate. And if you can’t come, kill somebody where you are.”
— ISIL’s messaging.
The FBI chief said the message “resonates with troubled souls, people seeking meaning in some horribly misguided way.”
“Those people exist in every state,” he added.
Earlier this month, Comey said the FBI was investigating ISIS supporters in every state except Alaska.
On Wednesday, he emphasized information sharing among local law enforcement and government agencies.
“The Joint Terrorism Task Forces that we have set up all around this country are in some ways more important today than they were at 9/11 because of the nature of this threat,” Comey said.
The FBI director explained that in general it was “highly unlikely” that federal agents are going to be the first to notice “someone acting in strange ways” on social media, at religious institutions, at educational institutions and in the community.
So we have the FBI basically admitting the current administration’s utterly non-existent migration/border policy has allowed foreign murderers, religious extremists, and radical Islamic terrorists to infiltrate our Republic in every state…
While the same administration claws and hisses over the nation’s protected Constitutional right to bear arms and defend ourselves from enemies foreign and domestic…
Mr. President, it is exactly because you care more about curtailing the liberties of your own citizens than defending us from murderers that we realize, now more than ever, we cannot count on you to protect us.
The Second Amendment was enshrined exactly to protect us from incompetent zealots like you who seem to care more about the rights of imperialist savages than even those who voted for you.
You’ve proven the Office of the Presidency was far above your intellect to inhabit.
America will destroy the very enemy you seem so eager to protect.
You are a disgrace.
ISIS’s attacks in Paris, the deadliest targeting of civilians in France since the end of World War II, will change the political and security landscape of Europe irrevocably.
President François Hollande has promised a merciless response. Borders have been sealed — in direct contravention of the Maastricht agreement signed more than 20 years ago that within the European Union, national boundaries would be dissolved.
And most consequential in the short term, since it now appears that at least one of the terrorists posed as a refugee, Western governments are reassessing their immigration policies.
But what does this mean for the United States? Is America less vulnerable because of the greater distance between our country and the ravaged territories of the Middle East and North Africa?
Recent trends in law enforcement and intelligence indicate that we aren’t safer. On the contrary: The probability of a Paris-style attack has dramatically increased.
As part of its support to law enforcement, the Threat Knowledge Group has been collecting and analyzing the open-source information on ISIS arrests in the United States.
This report, ISIS: The Threat to the United States, contains our findings.

A friend of mine asked me what I thought about our recent deal with Iran, which he considered dangerous, naive, and irrational. It is all those things, but one must remember our current administration is dangerous, naive, and irrational.
Remember in school we all learned in mathematics a negative number x negative number = positive number?
For example -2 x -2 = 4.
I suspect that in the bitter aftertaste of two failed wars (Iraq and Afghanistan), we are merely positioning Iran to confront ISIS for us as a regional proxy.
Our irrational government has struck an irrational deal to give an irrational regime the means to eventually confront another irrational regime.
In other words: typical American foreign policy: dangerous, naive and irrational.
Rhetoric flies in face of reference to terror group as ‘jayvee’
President Obama said on the heels of a meeting with his national security team the battle against ISIS could take generations to win – a somewhat surprising admission, given his previous public and bold references to the terror group as a “jayvee” team.
His latest, the Hill reported: “This will not be quick,” Obama said, after meeting with military chiefs at the Pentagon about the fight against ISIS.
“This is a long-term campaign,” he continued. “This larger battle for hearts and minds is going to be a generational struggle.”
The president also said he has no immediate plans to send more U.S. troops into Iraq, and those already in-country for training and security purposes would not morph into combat fighters any time soon.
“If we try to do everything ourselves all across the Middle East, all across North Africa, we’ll be playing whack-a-mole,” Obama said, the Hill reported. “There will be a whole lot of unintended consequences that ultimately make us less secure.”
Republicans, in particular, have been critical of Obama’s overseas’ strategies against the terror group, whom he famously referred to as a “jayvee team” in a January 2014 interview with New Yorker. Then, Obama said: “The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant.”
Obama’s since tried to backtrack on those comments and claim he was referring to terror groups in general, not ISIS in particular. But the author of the article, David Remnick, confirmed to PolitiFact.com the discussion during Obama’s remarks focused on the overtaking of Fallujah by a band of terrorists known as the Islamic State.
Fast-forward to today, and Republicans still aren’t impressed with Obama’s strategies to deal with ISIS.
“A speech isn’t a strategy,” said Cory Fritz, a spokesman for Speaker John Boehner, in the Hill. “At no point in his remarks did President Obama indicate he’s doing anything to change course and actually build the broad, overarching plan that’s needed to take on these savage terrorists and win.”

Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Yeah, we annihilated Saddam Hussein’s entire army in 30 days. That’s right: we decimated the world’s fourth largest army in four weeks…
Oh, but ISIS is going to be a “long-term campaign”.
This smacks of a man unwilling to destroy the monsters of a faith he secretly prefers.
I simply cannot believe this report from the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) is true. This must be a clever prank… and I am waiting for the “you’ve been punked” banners to start rolling across America’s web sites and television crawlers. There is no way a sitting president, even a zealot as fringe as Barak Obama, in this politically hyper-charged global climate, did not personally attend 58% of his daily intelligence briefings but “read transcripts” of them.
This would mean he’s only personally showed up to 42% of his daily intelligence briefings. That’s why you have these meetings in person: to look a general in the eye when he tells you something, cross-examine the claims of analysts face-to-face, and get a sense for the men and women supplying you the very intelligence on which you act. In business you never (cardinal communication Sin No. 1) have critical meetings through email: that’s why they are called “meetings” (hint hint)… you meet people.
Again, not possible.
This is not even a conservative, liberal, or libertarian issue. This is an “I have an IQ greater than that of sand” issue.
Not a president of the United States.
I just can’t behind this claim yet.
I tried to confirm this report at CNN, MSNBC, The Huffington Post, and Media Matters and as of this entry, not one of them has this story that I can find (still looking). Only the Washington Post and ABC News commented on this report.
