And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, “My father” and Abraham said, “Here am I, my son.” And Isaac said, “Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering.” So they went both of them together.
The Book of the Beginning 22:7,8
God entered into a covenant with Abraham. Part of that contract was a request for Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac for their sins on Mount Moriah.
Abraham was willing to do this, but was interrupted by an angel, “Don’t harm the child!”
God was very impressed with the man’s commitment. Because Abraham was willing to sacrifice his “only begotten son” as a propitiation for sins of his people…
God agreed to the terms of the covenant.
Almost two thousand years later, God sacrificed His “only begotten son” as the Last Propitiation of all sins.
Mount Moriah is Golgotha.
